Spend a week discovering the culture and arts of West Africa with guest artists YELI Ensemble from Guinea Conakry.

Spend a week discovering the culture and arts of West Africa with guest artists YELI Ensemble from Guinea Conakry alongside Nashville-based teaching artists who will share rich history and legends from the traditional culture of Guinea Conakry through song, dance, and drumming. In the mornings, Fathiyah Suso will lead the students in an exploration of the many cultures represented on the African continent and provide cultural context through arts enrichment activities. In the afternoons, students will join the YELI Ensemble to hear stories, learn new rhythms on the drums and practice the dances that go with them. By the end of the week, they will have an experiential vision of this ancient and dynamic culture, opening their world view. The week ends with a presentation open to family and friends.

No experience necessary, only curiosity!
